  6. Welcome to the Babel system!
  7.  
  8. This file contains the distribution guide for version 3.4 patch level 1
  9. of the Babel system which supports multilingual typesetting.
  10. This version of the Babel system is compatible with LaTeX2e.
  11. Whenever the instructions talk about LaTeX, read LaTeX2e.
  12.  
  13. **Note that the files from the babel system currently may produce
  14. **unexpected results when you use T1 output encoding. This problem
  15. **will be solved in a future version of the babel system
  16.  
  17. This system is maintained by Johannes Braams in cooperation with
  18. various people around Europe.

  20. The Babel system is described in:

  22.  * The LaTeX Companion, Goossens; Mittelbach and Samarin, Addison-Wesley
  23.

  25. This distribution is described in the files ending with .txt.  You
  26. should read install.txt before starting to install Babel.

  30.  * install.txt describes how to install Babel.

  32.  * manifest.txt lists all the files in the Babel distribution.

  34.  * bugs.txt describes how to submit a bug report for Babel.

  39. You are not allowed to change the files in this distribution.
